Rather than shooting out laser light and catching it back with LIDAR, the cars just shoot out light via a specialized set of headlights and then capture it back with cameras
If Teslaβs autonomous vehicles can grow to ~5% of the US transportation market by vehicle miles traveled, Robotaxi revenue for the US alone would exceed Teslaβs global revenue from vehicle sales.
Teslaβs objective is not to run a Robotaxi service with a few hundred driverless cars.
Their goal is to make as many of their 9
million+ cars on the road autonomous as possible.
The Robotaxi service is just a way to test FSD Unsupervised in a controlled environment initially.
Interesting drop from former Anthropic employee: Hackers prefer to use massively subsidized labs AI subscriptions for attacks as opposed to open models.
Tesla is headed into a massive period of growth driven by autonomy and robotics.
I expect them to grow from a company that reports $100 billion a year on the top line to a company that reports $100 billion+ a year on the bottom line.
NYC to LA Cannonball with Tesla FSD is done!
@DavidMoss, @OwenSparks, and I are proud to announce that we have broken the record for the fastest fully autonomous drive from New York City to Los Angeles!
We left the Red Ball Garage in New York, NY 47 hours, 15 minutes, and 39 seconds ago, and now have ended in Redondo Beach, CA at the Portofino Hotel
(2,886 miles / 4,645 km)
This was accomplished with Tesla FSD v14.3.6, beating the previous record of 49:55:57 by 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 18 seconds, with absolutely zero disengagements.
Huge thanks to @AlexRoy144 for years of inspiration. Thank you to all of the teams at @Tesla, with particular shout-outs to @Tesla_AI and @TeslaCharging for their phenomenal efforts. This would not have been possible without them.
New Record for autonomous cannonball across the country has been set by @DavidMoss@scotsrule08 and @OwenSparks with FSD v14.
New Record: 47 hours 15 minutes and 39 seconds (beating previous record by 2 hours 40 minutes and 18 seconds)
And to top it off, confetti AND fireworks to celebrate this - made possible by @wholemars and @fsd_database
