Selling Tesla to buy SpaceX before the merger? Do the math first. ๐
This is my situation:
If I sell $10k of $TSLA (oldest shares, up 64%):
โข Norwegian tax on the gain (37.84%): about $1,480
โข About $8,520 left to buy $SPCX
If I hold and SpaceX buys Tesla at a 30% premium:
โข That $10k becomes about $13,000 in SpaceX, with no tax paid yet
Break-even: SpaceX has to rise 52.5% before the merger, with Tesla flat. From $145, that's about $221.
Above $221, swapping wins. Below it, holding Tesla wins.
Are you swapping or holding? ๐

Weekly meeting. Strong coffee, heart-shaped waffles, and a room full of people who paid for Full Self-Driving years ago.
Still waiting. ๐
"Self-driving Tesla kills man" โ then you read the comments.
A few years ago: "I'll never get in one of those."
Now: almost all defending FSD and questioning the outlet.
Something has changed in public opinion.
Quiet sea-change. ๐
@OverlyTrev Correct. I added one SpaceX yesterday. From 100 shares to 101 ๐
Normally I hate ruining nice round numbers but, what the heck. It will be 5x in 3 years.
Agreed, itโs a solid offer. The catch is that overpaying for Tesla would likely weigh on SpaceXโs valuation in the near term (that $200 could trade closer to $150 for a while).
By 2H 2027 and into 2028, though, Teslaโs standalone valuation should be at or above $690. Thatโs when SpaceX should really re-rate higher on the back of the income contribution and the full merger synergies.
Some guy driving a car registered to the company I work for swung his door into mine and left a scrape and a dent. It needs a repaint, about $1,000 total, and he just drove off.
Sentry cam caught everything.
I sent the clip to my boss, who replied: "Get it fixed, we'll pay."
Thank God for Sentry cam ๐น๐
@jack Itโs fantastic but I realize it is less effective and wastes time. A lot of noise on the line and filler sounds. I would not want that for a day to day AI assistent, I think. Otherwise effing nailed the feal feeling.
