👉🏻 On the Prohibition of Men Shaving Their Heads
Rule 96 of the Sixth Ecumenical Council (in Trullo)
"We... forbid those to be cut off [excommunicated] who arrange the hair on their heads by deceitful braiding, to the detriment of those who look upon them."
Interpretation of Theodore Balsamon on Canon 96
"It is forbidden... to trim the hair on the head in such a way as to make the face appear elongated, or to shave the hair from the front of the head with razors."
Nomocanon (Kormchaya Book), Chapter 42
"If anyone makes tonsures on his head... or cuts off hair with razors, let him be anathema [accursed]."
Which Church is sufficiently faithful to tradition? We observe this problem not only among Americans; strictly speaking, this is why I see no sense—and in fact find it dangerous—for Orthodox Americans to have serious patronage from other countries. There is a Law that no one observes, but it is crucial to remember the Word and the Law, otherwise all non-Orthodox churches will fall into heresy.
My words exist within the context of the tweet I replied to. Oh, wretched Orthodox Christians, do you even know our fate over these long centuries, and is such knowledge not worthy of drawing conclusions? Our Church is deeply politicized; we must first strip away these political spheres of influence from within it, or else we are merely aiding the enemies of God.
@DesertRepenter@AngloVarangian The ROC has no continuity not only with the Church of the Kievan Rus era, but even with the Church of the time of Nicholas II. Do you really think that the 10th-century Metropolia of Kyiv and the ROC are the same church with an unbroken tradition?
@DesertRepenter@AngloVarangian What does Volodymyr Yaroslavovych have to do with the church created by Stalin in the 1940s? That is simply ridiculous. I am talking about martyrs who are directly related to the ROC, namely Sysoev and Rodionov.
Whose blood are you talking about? The New Martyrs Sysoev or Rodionov, whom the ROC even refuses to recognize as martyrs? The church you are talking about was created by Stalin's order, and the lion's share of the priests within the ROC are state bureaucrats, and that is a FACT. Read Seraphim Rose.
The First Epistle to the Thessalonians, Chapter 5, Verses 16–18
Всегда́ ра́дуйтеся. Непреста́нно моли́теся. О все́м благодари́те: сія́ бо е́сть во́ля Бо́жія о Христе́ Іису́сѣ въ ва́съ

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
@AngloVarangian It’s utter nonsense. And it’s a common scenario: two people on Twitter arguing about the history of Eastern Europe, yet neither is right, and the level of absurdity is roughly the same.
👉From the dialogue of the bishops with the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr the Great, 996 AD:
And brigandage multiplied greatly, and the bishops said to Volodymyr: "Behold, robbers have multiplied; why do you not execute them?"
He answered: "I fear sin."
They said to him: "You have been appointed by God for the punishment of the evil and for the mercy of the good. It behooves you to punish robbers, but only after investigation."
Volodymyr then discarded the viry and began executing robbers, and the bishops and elders said: "There are many wars among us; if we had the vira (fines/surety), it would go into weapons and horses."
And Volodymyr said: "Let it be so."
And Volodymyr lived according to the testaments of his father and grandfather.
The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty
"Karp Silych, following his father’s example by adhering to the Schism, wore the dress prescribed by the decree for Old Believers. He wore a long-skirted cloth caftan, belted very low, with a square of red cloth sewn onto the back. In his hands, he held a cap with a yellow visor, which they were instructed to wear backward."
Since the time of Peter I, Old Believers—in order to be distinguished from members of the ruling Church—were required to wear square red patches on their backs bearing the abbreviation "E.R.OT." (Eretik, Raskolnik, Otstupnik — Heretic, Schismatic, Apostate), as well as caps with yellow visors. Old Believer women were forced to wear horned hats.
Such marking was mandatory so that Old Believers would immediately stand out in a crowd. This facilitated police surveillance and financial control: since they were obliged to pay a colossal double tax for the right to preserve their faith, such clothing prevented them from concealing their status from tax collectors. Furthermore, it served as a method of public humiliation and marginalization — a bright and absurd stigma that turned people into social outcasts in the eyes of the rest of society.
Despite centuries of persecution, the Old Believers, through closed mutual aid and hard work, managed to survive and, by the early 20th century, controlled up to 70% of all private capital and the economy of the Russian Empire. Driven by anti-imperial and anti-tsarist motives, the wealthiest Old Believer merchants generously funded radical revolutionary movements and the Socialist-Revolutionary press through their funds for years. This capital effectively sponsored the revolution, which led to the overthrow of the monarchy and the execution of Nicholas II in the house of Ipatiev — a merchant of Old Believer descent.
The Romanov dynasty first rose to prominence under False Dmitry, a Catholic and a Polish puppet, who installed Filaret (Romanov) as Patriarch. His descendant, the first Emperor Peter I, shaped through his policies how and why the last Romanov Emperor would end his life. God is not mocked.
Infidels, this gesture appeared as a result of the church reform of Peter I of the Romanov dynasty, whose ancestor became a metropolitan under the protectorate of the Polish-Catholic power of False Dmitry.
It was the Romanovs who organized the persecutions of the Orthodox. It was the Romanovs who burned the Orthodox alive in wooden huts and stormed monasteries using the army and artillery.
The occupation and oppression of the Orthodox began not under the Bolsheviks, but under the Romanov dynasty, and continues to this day. The Russian Orthodox Church is NOT Orthodox.
The true identity kard of every Orthodox Christian—man, woman, children, layperson or clergyman, Monk, Nun ; Russian, Serbian, Greek, Bulgarian, Romanian, Palestinian, Syrian-Lebanese, Egyptian, Afrikan etc.—is the joining of the first three fingers of the right hand to make the Sign of the Kross.
Because of this sign, we have had our cohorts of martyrs (Shahids) throughout History under Roman, then Sunni (Kalifates, Turkocracy), and then Marxist-atheist persecution. But we are victorious if we hold fast to the confession of faith and the love for God and neighbor
The Romanovs first came to power as collaborators with the Polish intervention. Peter I sought to strip the Church of its sacred aura and political influence. He established the "All-Joking, All-Drunken and Most Mocking Synod." Instead of traditional church incense (frankincense), tobacco was indeed burned in the censers during the gatherings of this assembly; at the head of the "Synod" stood not a real patriarch, but a mock commander-in-chief — the "Prince-Pope"; and all participants of the assembly bore jester-like, parodic "titles" and "clerical ranks," which almost always contained profanity and obscene allusions.
