Not that there isn't love between Mari and Lara. The love between them is the bridge which allows Lara to learn to be able to love this world. But defining the story as just a romance between Mari and Lara isn't quite right when the story is trying to do so much more than this
I think it's been quite clear for a few episodes now that the series wasn't going for a clear-cut yuri happy ending, and that the story would reject the notion of a defined 'true love' for something more ambiguous and nuanced
