What surprised me most is that two users canhave the same password, but their stored hashes will look totally different because of salting. That’s powerful.
Now I understand that password strength isn’t just about what users choose, but also about how systems store and protect it

Before this week, I thought password security was mostly about using “strong” passwords long strings with symbols, numbers, and random characters. I didn’t really think about what happens after I type my password into a website. I assumed platforms just stored it securely somehow

attackers shouldn’t be able to see actual passwords. Salting takes it further by adding a unique random value to each password before hashing. This prevents attackers from using precomputed tables (like rainbow tables) to crack multiple passwords at once.
