🎸 Wickersley 6th form’s band, The Tivolis, have their first big gig at Network in Sheffield! They will be supporting Vivas on Saturday 5th October. Four of the band members are in Sixth Form and the other is a former Sixth Form student!

🧪 Y13 Chemistry students visited Sheffield Hallam University’s outreach labs this week. They synthesised cyclohexene from cyclohexanol, purified and analysed their samples.

Wickersley’s own Indie Rock band, The Tivolis, featuring four current Y12 students, are recording their own album of of original songs and have just played a gig at the legendary Hallamshire Hotel on West St in Sheffield

Y12 Geographers conducted the first of their 4 fieldwork days out in the Peak District. Students investigated the sequestration of carbon in peatland moors and Burbage Brook rivers. They worked alongside the Moorland discovery centre at Longshaw Estate, ran by the @nationaltrust

Y13 Drama and Theatre class recently performed their scripted pieces for examination. Monologue extracts from the plays Miss Julie and Immaculate were followed by a performance of a key extract from Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House.

Last week our Sixth Form hosted The @Cambridge_Uni School Tour.

Year 12 students were invited to spend the morning with a representative from The University of Cambridge, learning about the different opportunities that are available at universities across the UK.

Students were invited to take part in the interview experience, conducted by a representative of several local organisations.

Y12 A-Level Physics students took part in the Senior Physics Challenge Online Competition.

We were delighted to see all our students achieve at least a Bronze award for their efforts, with six of our students doing incredibly well to achieve a Silver Award.

On Friday, our Y13 Chemistry and Applied Science students were lucky enough to attend a laboratory session at @sheffhallamuni to help them develop their practical skills and experience working with high-spec equipment in a university lab. 🥼🧪
