Somebody smarter than me help me out here. Maybe it really is this simple.
The 49ers flew to Australia a week early to adjust to the time change. The Rams are flying in the night before and leaving right after. Both say they're going off the science. So are they just reading different data? Weighing different things?
Coach McVay's logic is keep the routine normal. Coach Shanahan's is give the body time to adjust. Fascinating that the same science points two completely opposite directions.
Since we're here, a business question too. The whole point of a game in Australia is planting NFL roots over there. If the Rams really are just in and out, no community work or time spent off-field, I'm a little surprised the league was cool with that. Seems like a missed chance to build something, especially because the Rams have the rights to Australia as one of their international territories.
Anyway. Curious how others see it!
