In our follow-up story, @imtherealtrumpp and @WiktorBurdzl applied our LSBA method to show a conserved ActivinA binding capability to ACVR2 receptors in human and medaka fish. A critical step for the development of a novel #FOP model.

Within our study, where we used Halo-tagged BMP/TGFβ receptors for quantification of cell surface ligand binding, we compared BMP9 binding to different Teleost ALK1 receptors. Interestingly, BMP9 binding was not similar, but signaling was.

Playing with protein styles using #Molecularnodes and #Blender3D in combination with a plasma membrane model. As a test protein I used the Zinc transport protein ZntB #5N9Y. We are getting closer to the 3D receptor/ligand binding video! @fubcp@FU_Berlin@bradyajohnston
It was an adventurous journey paving the way for BMP/TGFβ/Activin receptor and growth factor visualization. I am thankful for the collaboration and looking forward to future applications of our fluorescent tools.

Happy that my stay at @IRBBarcelona is yielding the first good results. Thanks for the support from the whole #maciaslab team. We’ re gonna get closer to answer the #SMADquestion . Who else loves EMSAs?
Happy that our first BMP/TGFbeta receptor visualisation paper is available as pre-print, where we show the beauty of imaging Halo and SNAP-tagged receptors together with fluorescent ligands. Thankful for my team and the great collaboration with @BroichhagenJ and @Fran_Bottanelli
Feeling fortunate to have been given the opportunity to present my research at the 13th BMP Conference in Dubrovnik 🇭🇷! Fascinating people and work presented there! #LSBA#BMP#Knausgroup
As translational scientists, we should try our best to maximize the impact of our research towards patients. This weekend I’ll be visiting #FOP patients and relatives in #Lecce 🇮🇹 to tell about our projects in a lay understandable manner. Get more on https://t.co/XKJKQWCVwj
That’s a warp. #BMP2022 was a very successful congress in Dubrovnik and I’m proud how well my colleagues presented our work. I’m looking forward to the follow-up projects which have been initiated at the conference.
