Red Soldier Beetles
Say no to pesticides and attract natural predators instead
Seen during the summer, these beetles are a great help to our #gardens, feeding on #Aphids. The larvae even feed on Slugs!
This is the first time we’ve seen these here which is a great sign
A juvenile Songthrush has regularly been visiting our Allotment - it’s a first for us, we haven’t seen any around before!
With the recent spell of warm weather don’t forget to provide a source of water for wildlife 💚

Here’s our friendly little Wren, waiting patiently for some mealworms😍
Did you know that the family name for wrens is Troglodytidae, meaning 'cave dweller'. You can often see them looking for food within crevices or sheltered areas such as log piles.

Dug into an area of chalky soil at the allotment, setting it aside to use for our wildflowers 🌼
Most of our allotment consists of heavy sediment/clay as it’s on a flood plain, so we’re lucky to find this!

This is our #wildlife log pile by the #pond, looking much more established!
#Insects are in decline, and many other species rely on them as a food source. Help provide shelter for them this year on your #allotment by creating a bug-hotel or log pile!
