@HarmanBhanguBC In Cowichan, the old hospital needs to be converted into a rehab facility and the abstinence supportive housing that the NDP wouldn't fund in Nanaimo. Let's do better @bcndp@NorthCowichan https://t.co/FhznQI1cQK
@ezralevant From the mayor of a city where a police officer is shot in the line of duty while investigating senseless gun violence on the #toronto U.S. embassy in March and where these criminals continue to walk free. We need to do better and not be so blind https://t.co/rmDugFrGQ6
Canada is banning children under 16 from social media β which sounds compassionate.
But, children under 16 don't have IDs. ADULTS do. To prove you're over 16 you must show your ID online β which gets tied to your IP address.
Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Canada are all doing the same thing. This is not child protection. This is a digital identity system that lets them track every citizen online β and shut you down if you post against the narrative.
The best part was how the owner knew where everything was! Ask for a title and the piles of books some on shelves, some not, some requiring a ladder to reach were actually findable. I may be biased lol but genuinely impressive! Love that place πβ€οΈ
Stopped my ride today to document a Vancouver landmark. π
MacLeod's Books has been part of downtown since 1964. The doors were closed when I passed by, but the storefront still feels like a window into another era.

It never ceases to amaze me how out of touch many retired people are. You are living in a vastly more difficult, unjust and dangerous world. No one cares if you return your book 1 day late and leaving 3 voicemails is excessive. Im busy teaching kids how to question authority
I truly want to encourage parents to set aside 15-20 mins a day to read with their children. Especially reading childrenβs books the kids need to see that you enjoy reading as well. This also translates to school age and teens! Reading can be a fun family experience. Throw on an instrumental of you or childβs favorite music and vibe out READING books!
@JJ_McCullough You can access all this and more with your public #library card. There's a database called Canadian Newsstream. Check it out! https://t.co/hFGERAWvUq
@TristinHopper How about for your next book you try out traditional bookbinding as a hobby? I once got to try it at VPL when there was a bindery in the basement of the central library. Those were the days. Sigh π
Gen Z is the first generation to score lower than its parents on IQ. Test scores have also fallen: 13-year-oldsβ reading scores are now seven points lower and math scores around 14 points lower than 10 years ago. https://t.co/SA6g9eVwPl
Clinical research highlights the first five years as a critical period for literacy development, during which nearly 90% of a child's brain development occurs. These formative years lay the neurological and linguistic foundation for all lifelong learning, and overall well-being
Literacy is the best crime prevention. Fact is, the more literate people are, the more economic and fulfilling opportunities are available to them including post secondary. Just think about it, minimum wage barely covers rent in #canada
