@Mettlegear88@MikeWingerii I'm talking in general terms about the whole Bible. We need to remember that we were raised in an environment that shapes our understanding of how we interpret it, what we've heard Preachers say about it, our own cultural perspective etc. which we may not even notice consciously.
@Mettlegear88@MikeWingerii I'd still be mindful that there's a difference between "clear", and "how I'm habitually used to understanding it". We can misunderstand biblical texts all over simply because we are reading it 2000 years distant from the cultural and linguistic context of the person who wrote it
@William_Gouge_X@MikeWingerii Throughout the New Testament and Septuagint (LXX), phobos / phobeō frequently describes an attitude toward God, kings, and authority figures—meaning reverential awe or respect, not cowering terror (e.g., Acts 9:31, 1 Peter 2:17, Romans 13:7, Ephesians 5:21 - just 2 verses before)
@William_Gouge_X@MikeWingerii The reason the translation was changed was because of a semantic shift in the word fear in English over the last 500 years. It dropped the meaning of reverence and profound respect, and became only about terror or dread. So the word was changed so it wouldn't be misunderstood
HORRIBLE CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION

@smashbaals@btbsoco I didn't agree with Charlie's politics on most things. Until recently I would have referred to myself as a communist. But the truth is that Jesus is Lord, and he died for MY sins, and anybody who believes likewise is my brother in Christ. What unites is stronger than what divides
Ashur Sarnaya, a 45-year-old Iraqi Christian and wheelchair user who fled ISIS persecution and often shared videos about his faith, was killed while livestreaming on social media in Lyon, France

@btbsoco His legacy is best served by putting Jesus first. Charlie wouldn't want the focus to be on him, he knew that all the good he did and all the good he was stemmed from Calvery. May the focus be on the Lord, the Maker of heaven and Earth, He is where our help comes from.
@THEORTHOCHAT@ApostateProphet but take comfort, for radical love defeats the radical left, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for those who persecute and spitefully use you. We defeat evil with love, love turns away wrath. Love is power. We lose when we let them drag us down to the same level.
@ohboyitsyou01 @FraserNelson I'm the same age and seriously ill myself. I couldn't pass your comment by without extending a hand of friendship in what you're going thru. Have nothing to offer but my prayers, but I have nowt else to do with my time except poke the Almighty, so I will as often as I can for you
@ohboyitsyou01 @FraserNelson they don't understand that people are off sick because they literally can't work. I'm tired of being blamed for problems that have nothing to do with us. High sickness benefit use is a symptom, not the problem. I came out of Twitter retirement just to say I'm praying for you dude
@RVingRetiree@AmazonEve@tpwk47@christopherrufo @eyeandoe the trained left handed warriors are in Judges as well, at the other end of the book https://t.co/UtQKgD4KD6 Warriors trained to use the bow in the left hand are in 1 Chronicles 12. I misremembered the chopping off right hands, it was removing right eye: https://t.co/UOz1RA9XXX
@RVingRetiree@AmazonEve@tpwk47@christopherrufo @eyeandoe It also records an entire city training to use the sword in their left hand because the nation that was at war with them kept chopping off their right hands to stop them fighting back. And a Jewish clan who were naturally left-handed who were the best fighters in the country.
