Have seen Dhuin. Had to watch everything available from Achal Mishra post GG. Haven’t seen Pokhar… but believe it’s also on MUBI? How good is it?

@akispeaks No hate for Parasite, but both Gamak Ghar and Super Deluxe are far superior films from 2019. Those two deserved more viewership and recognition worldwide. In comparison, I can only think of Parasite as an exotic fad that caught fire

@akispeaks One movie to go with Meiyazhagan as a double-feature that I can think of — not necessarily because of the theme, or the style, but because of the emotions they evoke (of nostalgia) — is Gamak Ghar (2019) — basis ‘vibes’, not genre (Gamak Ghar is the superior of the two IMO)

@akispeaks Just finished. It’s beautiful. The denouement reminded me of Sachin bat, with the fear of a dismissal round the corner — they really had that Chekhov’s ‘snake’ around my neck the entire time and I’m not sure I’d have forgiven that, for even after the nod, one had gotten away

Three O’Clock High was the winner and The Innocents was surprisingly good. Shares a similar spirit with Tomboy (2011) I felt, or would, at least, make a great double-feature although they’re not the same genre
