#ICYMI: COMMENTARY: Sen. Risa Hontiveros: It was the money of Michael Yangโs brother that was used to fund the raided Bamban POGO. https://t.co/5SJbQ2rndp
Duterte truly did favor #China. He sought better ties with the evil regional hegemon over the traditional ally, the US. Chinese loans & grants jumped from $1.6 mn in 2016 to $621 mn in 2020. A lot of those projects never took off.

These are Filipinos and they are participating in interviews or receiving coverage from a media outlet affiliated with the Chinese government. It is worth inquiring why China would allow them to be featured by their propaganda arm before buying their arguments. Obviouly, their views definitely align with China's false narrative and misinformation about the West Philippine Sea.
Their claim that the tension in the West Philippine Sea is caused by the United States is a red herring fallacy. They are attempting to divert attention away from the fact that the escalation is actually caused by the People's Republic of China, not the Americans.
It is important for us to remember that in the previous administration, there was a deliberate decision to distance ourselves from the US, even to the extent of not conducting Balikatan Exercises during his presidency. Despite efforts to establish closer ties with Xi Jinping, China has continued to harass Filipino fishermen, create difficulties in our resupply operations, and unlawfully encroach upon our EEZ. Now, the question arises: Are the Americans truly responsible for China's escalation of tension?
THESE ARE REAL PEOPLE.
