19 août 1969, avant-dernier jour des sessions d'Abbey Road. Harrison met la touche finale à ses deux chefs-d'œuvre. Si aujourd'hui "Here Comes The Sun" est de loin le plus plébiscité par le grand public, c'est surtout celui-là qui sera le plus populaire à la sortie de l'album.
Quand on évoque ce titre, comment ne pas penser à son interprétation lors du concert hommage au Royal Albert Hall ? Ils sont tous là, son fils, sa femme et tous ses amis.
Pour l'occasion, Paul a sorti ce ukulélé que George lui avait offert. Lui qui adorait ce petit instrument. Et Paul a livré une version tout en douceur et en élégance du chef-d'œuvre de George. Avant que tout ce beau monde rende un dernier hommage à cette si belle chanson et à ce si talentueux songwriter qu'était George Harrison.

You Better You Betがリリースされた1981年。まあ賛否両論だった。
高校1年の自分はとても感動してたが、プレイヤーという雑誌でこの曲を批判してたキース・ムーンファンと毎月口論したのを覚えている。
熱くロックに接していたなぁと述懐すると同時に、最近の自分のロック熱の低さが情けない。

WoodStockに於けるThe Whoのパフォーマンスこそロックカルチャーの1つの頂点と言っていい。
映画のアウトテイクとして1990年代リリースのマイ・ジェネレーションのパフォーマンスには本当に驚いた。
映画では相当編集されて良いとこ取りの映像だったが、フー出演の日スケジュールが押しまくり、出番が翌朝未明になり、彼等の疲労は限界に達していた。
映画ではそんな様子は感じられなかったが、この没テイク集にその記録が克明に残され、彼等のビジネスを度外視した情熱に感動してしまった。
ストーンズやビートルズも良いけど、フーを特別に感じる理由はやはりこの辺りなのだろう。
