@VillaKathleen @nilikm@CBCIsmaila It’s sad that you’ve cherry picked studies to support your narrative. Unfortunately, a single point does not form a line.
@80ssummercamp @nilikm@CBCIsmaila@profvrr@DanielGriffinMD I really like @profvrr, a virologist from Colombia. No politics, all science. He has a podcast with other virologists and clinicians and does weekly episodes. He also Q&A sessions, which are quite good: https://t.co/JdeNOkjcxk
@80ssummercamp @nilikm@CBCIsmaila@profvrr@DanielGriffinMD The vast majority of people are not getting reinfected one month out. For those that do, what is the percentage that have severe disease? Seriously, please listen to some virologists. They’re hardly ever on mainstream media.
@80ssummercamp @nilikm@CBCIsmaila Not 2-3 times. But yes, you can expect get a yearly infection, which will act as a booster. You may not know that you are infected or you may get mild disease. This is how viruses work. I seriously recommend you listen to some virologists, try @profvrr or @DanielGriffinMD.
@80ssummercamp @nilikm@CBCIsmaila We wore masks to prevent the RATE of new infections and to delay them until we got vaccines that work. We now have such vaccines and it’s time to get back to normal life. If you want to wear a mask, that’s okay— the mandate is no longer a sensible approach.
@80ssummercamp @nilikm@CBCIsmaila A mask lowers the probability of infection at a moment in time. Suppose that probability is p. If you interact with approx. 1/p individuals, the probability of getting infected is 100%. With masking, You’ll have to interact with more individuals, but you will still get infected.
@80ssummercamp @nilikm@CBCIsmaila Please tell me Keith, how will it get better than having 90+% protection against severe disease with a two-dose vaccine? Unless we develop a pan-coronavirus vaccine, which would take many many years, this is all we have got. And it’s damn good.
@bmj_latest The study you have quoted measured viral load as RNA genome copies and not actual infectious virus. It says nothing about infectivity. Detection of RNA genome copies in nasal swabs is only poorly correlated with infectious virus shedding.

@sheilasinghlab on #COVID19: “Take care of ALL health concerns simultaneously, rather than replacing almost everything else with a single public health issue that is ultimately worse than the one we were trying to prevent.”

If two people always agree, it’s a sign that at least one of them isn’t thinking critically—or speaking candidly.
Differences of opinion don't have to be threats. They can be opportunities to learn.
Intellectual friction isn't a relationship bug. It's a feature of education.
Since inflation = theft of our time, the fed’s new spending (inflation) — without us caring about any future consequences — resembles the unknown repercussions of time travel. @JeffBooth
