Buffalo finished fourth in scoring in 2025 and added DJ Moore. James Cook's 116 yards against Houston also show why pressuring Allen alone isn't enough.

Houston is missing Jayden Higgins, Tank Dell and tackle Braden Smith. Those absences cut into C.J. Stroud's receiving options and protection, giving the under support beyond containing Buffalo.

David Montgomery is the biggest complication. Buffalo allowed 5.1 yards per carry in 2025, and Jim Leonhard's new defense hasn't proved that weakness is fixed.

Houston still has a way to move the ball without its missing receivers.
