The Jim Weaver Trail #3590 (Waldo Lake Trail) is closed at North Waldo and Islet Campgrounds through the end of September due to hazard tree falling and removal operations. The Jim Weaver Trail remains open outside of the northeast corner of Waldo Lake. There are no detours.

Firefighters are engaged in a full suppression response to the Foley Ridge Fire on the McKenzie River Ranger District. Previously known as Incident 387, the lightning-caused fire is estimated at 20 acres.

Thanks to firefighters’ quick and aggressive actions and coordinated response with partners, all but 2 fires from this week’s lightning are now contained or controlled. The majority of the fires were kept under a quarter of an acre.

Firefighters continue to respond to new fires from recent lightning. This includes a smoke report that smoke jumpers responded to earlier today in the Three Sisters Wilderness. Reconnaissance is still underway with the help of aviation, smoke jumpers, & patrols.

Driven by sustained hot, dry and windy conditions, the Emigrant Fire grew to 6,000 acres yesterday. A Red Flag Warning is in effect today for thunderstorms and unstable conditions, and additional fire growth is expected.

Earlier this morning, firefighters responded to lightning reported across the southern end of the Willamette National Forest. The hot, dry and windy conditions caused one of the fires, the Emigrant Fire, to grow quickly from a few acres to an estimated 300 acres.
The Aubrey Mountain Fire, located on the Middle Fork Ranger District, was contained on the afternoon of August 18th. The total fire size was 25 acres. The cause remains under investigation.
