@Wesley_Todd_ Genuine question. I understand Biblically she shouldn’t assume the teaching role of the pastor, but is anything she said here in this clip wrong per se?
@poperespecter1 You forget that the Catholic priests themselves said the Lutheran pastor was successful in stopping the demonic oppression, though temporarily.
@TheologyShow Baptist-to-Lutheran here. I became deeply disillusioned with the emotionalism and ahistorical nature of evangelicalism. I actually decided to stop being Baptist before I knew where I was gonna go. The Lutheran doctrine of Baptism and seeing how biblical it was convinced me.
The key words of Holy Week are these: “For you”
Jesus for you.
Forgiveness for you.
Freedom from sin accomplished by Jesus for you.
Death and resurrection for you so that you may live eternally.
@WhoIsLikeElohim He asked if had heard about the Reformation then tried to convince you to stay Baptist? This always confuses me. Baptists don’t realize they were seen as the same fringe crazies back then, similar to how, for example, jehovahs witnesses are seen today.
Thanks be to God for giving us St. Paul and his words which speak to the struggles of sinners like me even to this day. It feels good to know I’m not the only one who’s struggled with this. And thanks be to God for his grace and forgiveness when I fail.
Been reading through Romans recently. Particularly struck by a verse I’ve never paid attention to before. One of the biggest guilts I feel in my daily life as a Christian is how easily it is to act against how I should whenever I don’t have God actively on my mind.
…Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve you he law of sin.”
@matthewxcw For a casual listen for say, studying and such, Vivaldi had always been my go-to. For something even better of his, check out Gloria in Excelsis by him
Hot take: both of these are true and healthy reactions to sin for the Christian. Our sin should cause us to fear and seek repentance, and by grace the Gospel gives us the assurance of forgiveness.
