@RMarieEngaged@ewarren@chuckschumer If they are already debt free, what do they want? A rebate? Lack of progress in the past isn’t a valid excuse not to make progress now.
@AOC Manchin has no qualms about shelling out billions of dollars in subsidies for corporations but twiddles his thumbs at the prospect of sending less than $2k to people who might not have needed it two years ago.
@adlgator86@RepJayapal The cost of not getting it into the hands of those who look on paper as though they don’t have it is far greater than the cost of giving it to those who don’t.
Worst case scenario, you spend your stimulus money on things you want or need, putting that money into the economy!
@GoodPoliticGuy They didn’t lie, the initial promise of 2k was a proposed amendment (which failed because it was voted down in the Senate by both parties, which is both more salacious and actually true) to the stimulus Bill increasing 600 to 2000, not an additional 2000 on top of the 600.
@_ericblanc I think the best strategy is Bernie-style, running in the Dem primary and then rejecting the nomination so as to avoid a Democratic challenger while retaining partisan independence, but that requires a state party that’s open to the idea which is rare outside of Vermont.
@BReady74 @safetyinletters@TheScottCharles@designmom Months in relation to this specific issue. I agree that the groundwork has been laid for years, in fact I’d argue decades going back to at least Newt Gingrich on C-SPAN.
@safetyinletters@TheScottCharles@designmom They’ve been brainwashed for months. From their perspective, there was irrefutable and overwhelming evidence of election fraud and they were going to overturn the election results to get Trump re-elected. The right wing media sphere is responsible for spreading lies to cause this
@Elizasoul80 my life’s goal:
defeat a bear with bare arms. then rip off the dead bear arms and place them over my bare arms, thus bearing the bear arms with my bare arms. its my right to bear bear arms.
@asatarbair@ProletariatRis1 The same people who call socialists idealists and utopians believe in a magical, self-regulating free market that has never existed.
@tonyrobbinsdude @ZachandMattShow@AndrewYang Whenever there is a tie in the Senate, the Vice President (as President of the Senate) casts the tie-breaking vote. In the vote for majority leader, even someone like Manchin won’t break party ranks, leaving the most likely scenario to be a tie vote which is broken by VP Harris.
@miriamwh @Sara_James2 @kmay@marwilliamson The Nazi economic policy was called “reprivatisierung”, or reprivatization. They sold off multiple previously public industries to the private sector, including steel, mining, banking, local public utilities, shipyards, ship-lines, railways, and more. They were capitalists.
@dame314dash@DonnyTinyHandz@ninaturner @senatemajldr @AmyMcGrathKY@Booker4KY I’ll grant you that Beshear had an advantage because of his dad, but I disagree that McGrath was the more ideal candidate compared to Booker. McGrath appealed to absolutely no one. Only 4% of Democrats support Trump. That is who McGrath appealed to.
