@caldamac Lichen/algae. The N/NE side is darker and therefore maintains moisture longer during the day and becomes more suitable for growth. The S/SW side gets more sun, dries faster and therefore reduces lichen growth.
Can at a severe push be used to navigate with in an emergency.

The way I see it, life is like climbing a scree slope.
Two steps forward, one step back. Right now it feels like i'm sliding downhill, but I know with the next few positive steps i'll keep climbing to the top of the mountain.
