🇮🇱 What I Saw in Israel: The Unwavering Resolve of a Nation after October 7th
I recently visited two villages that bore the brunt of the assault - Netiv HaAsara and Kfar Aza. Walking among the ruins, I stepped into the shadow of a haunting past as evil once again visited the Jewish people.
Contrary to popular belief, the Israelis living near the Gaza border are committed to peace. I met individuals who actively facilitated medical care for Palestinians and learned that many Palestinians are employed by the Israeli kibbutzim along the border. These villages are literally living out the two-state solution.
One story that struck me was that of Shmuel from Netiv HaAsara. He had a successful business partnership with a man from Gaza, only to discover that his partner was a "judge" within Hamas, responsible for enforcing Sharia law.
This betrayal of trust and goodwill happened in every village attacked and has unified the Nation of Israel like never before. The international community simply hasn’t caught up to this reality.
The Israeli people understand the nature of their enemy and are committed to eradicating Hamas. But what does this mean?
True victory for Israel cannot be measured in body counts alone. If Hamas is decimated but retains control over the Gaza Strip, it will have achieved what no other Arab power has managed in the last 75 years: launching an attack on Israel without losing its territorial holdings.
After all, land is the ultimate measure of power in the Holy Land.
Israel's military campaign will be successful only when they have achieved a notable intensification of control within the perimeter of the Gaza Strip, evidenced by the establishment of an expanded security buffer.
This outcome serves as both the only practical response by Israel and the only one that will signal clear defeat for Hamas in the eyes of its supporters. Only then will there be an opening for lasting political and ideological change within Gaza.
The West must stand in solidarity with Israel and remember that the path to peace is not always clear or easy.
