Ukrainian forces launch long-range drones towards Russia in one of the largest barrages of the ongoing conflict so far. AFP had exclusive access to one of the launch sites, at an undisclosed location
🏆 The first "Arman Soldin" scholarship for journalism students has been awarded at the @30thSFF, in honor of the French-Bosnian #AFP journalist killed in Ukraine.
👏 Congratulations to the laureate Nejla Mulić for her project about "Women of Bosnia and Herzegovina"!
This is the kind of censorship UK photojournalists face everyday:
- No.10 invite us to cover a visit.
- We are asked to leave during the best moment.
- Gov photographer stays and gets the best shot.
- British papers used the unverified government-issued image.
- Repeat
AFP has eight journalists trapped in Gaza working 24/7. Here they tell their story: "We are watching Gaza disappear in front of us...we risk being killed at any moment." https://t.co/uSYG2Wc0tv
"We have been working 24/7 for four months. But we must because what we are watching is Gaza disappear in front of us."
Heart wrenching account of reporting the war from @AFP's journalists in Gaza. https://t.co/PCG32VZnGL
Today, The Times used a handout picture by the government on the front page.
Imagine reading an article in the same paper in which the author is: 'N10 Downing St. Handout'. Exactly.

The 25km-long Thames Tideway Tunnel will divert sewage and water from drains which used to flood into the river during heavy rainfall. The megastructure is being broadly welcomed by environmental groups

Thank you @BBCNewshour for giving me the opportunity to talk about AFP's Arman Soldin, who was killed in Ukraine earlier this year and has just been awarded France's highest honour, the Légion d'honneur.

RIP: Arman Soldin, from Sarajevo to reporting on Ukraine's front lines.
@AFP's Ukraine video coordinator Arman Soldin was killed on 9 May near Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine. The AFP team came under fire with Grad rockets while they were with a group of Ukrainian soldiers. Soldin, 32, was killed when a rocket struck close to him. The rest of the team was not injured
EN:
An AFP journalist, one of our compatriots Arman Soldin, has been killed in Ukraine. With courage, from the first hours of the conflict he went to the front line to establish the facts. To inform us. We share the pain of those close to him and of all his colleagues.
I wanna be forever young".
Tu avais 32 ans.
"His death is a terrible reminder of the risks and dangers faced by journalists every day covering the conflict in Ukraine."
-- @AFP chairman Fabrice Fries, on the death of Arman Soldin

Just the other day I was laughing at this thread posted by Arman about an injured hedgehog he discovered in Bakhmut. True to character, amidst the carnage he helped nurse it back to health. A small example of the person he was, showing kindness in the middle of a war zone
Sooo.. here is an unusually cute story from our day of reporting around #Bakhmut ! We found a baby hedgehog that was dehydrated and dying at the worst place possible in Chassiv Yar ...
Quick thread ! 🧶🧶🧶
