@Hosang His playstyle is fashionable, data is good, he’s got “aura”, he’s been allowed access to world class recruitment at Brighton and his personal selection of wronguns at Marseille. I’m yet to see a return on all that investment despite having a significant amount of experience now.
@Hosang You miss my point. You suggested Spurs are having a “just do stuff” aggressive summer. What I’m getting at is De Zerbi has never been held back by lack of ambition (despite what he may think of his employers - because he’s a dickhead).
He always gets backed and never wins.
@Hosang 1) Carrick got United playing multiple different styles over the 17 games, despite squad limitations, with calmness and composure.
2) De Zerbi got Spurs playing with desperation and a little structure, not loads.
3) De Zerbi has also not actually achieved anything in his career
@Unitedchris7@NathSalt1 Mendes has many clients. Top clubs, while they might want to not deal with the hassle, cannot afford not to deal with him. United will also, for example, be reliant on him to sell Ugarte, and potentially in future sign new players or renew Yoro’s contract. Same for Spurs, WHU.
@DownTheLine92 That said, a big powerful ball winner as the 3rd signing would be welcome, provided they are suitably mobile and can be trusted on the ball, unlike Ugarte.
@DownTheLine92 Don’t entirely disagree, however Mainoo is bigger and more physical (especially recently) than he’s given credit for, and Ederson is there. Martinez doesn’t play every game. And a 3rd midfielder is likely, plus Fletcher to back up who is growing into a powerful frame.
@thePoS_007@OhCheesesChrist You’d think some of the new loan is to finance capital investment in the academy and women’s team facilities. The execs have mentioned that a few times but no word on how they would pay for improvements.
@nigel_b_golf That’s not how the accounting works at all.
Profit on a £60m sale:
60 - (38 x 4/5 for 1 year amortisation) - (15% x (60-38)) = 25
So profit in the books on a £60m sale would be £25m.
@Hosang Not saying “wait and pay anything for him”. Fernandes first for me in terms of profile. But I understand Tchouameni being a top target with Anderson. Scott if not (and possible).
That over Hall - or Tonali, by a mile.
@Hosang From what I’ve seen (not claiming to have watched loads), he’s got all the tools in terms of through the lines, short, big switch, but is generally not too progressive and can be sloppy, esp in forward areas.
And trophy/CL experience which is lacking in most targets.
@PaddyKeoghAF I’d honestly rather save the money on Hall, renew Amass and have him as rotation with Shaw/Dorgu, renew and loan Kukonki and loan out Devaney/Fletcher with the extra money going on a 3rd CM and/or ST, CB
@Bob_Helpful@CarrickBall_ That’s a laughable opinion at this point in his career. Evra and Irwin for a start. But sure, every Newcastle player in a bottom half finishing side is the best that’s ever laced up boots.
Great post bro
@Bob_Helpful@CarrickBall_ He’s not. He’s a very good defender. We also didn’t have a RB.
United currently have 3 PL level players who can play LB in Shaw, Dorgu and Amass. Hall is a very good player but Newcastle need to sell players and he seems to want to leave. Others do too, so it’ll be a race.
