I am appalled and aghast at the unfair and bigoted vitriol being directed at Mayor Mamdani around 9/11. He was one of a million kids in New York who spent that day terrified, and who carries that experience with him today. I know because I was with him, and we were terrified together. None of the attacks on the Mayor or others like Ramzi Kassem survive even the slightest scrutiny beyond dredging the bottom of the barrel of anti-Muslim slander.

I disagree with the Mayor on many things, and have made those disagreements known publicly and privately. But there is absolutely no room for accusing a New Yorker who lived through those attacks of sympathy with the people who perpetrated them. End of story.
