@SlimCliffy I’m listening to today’s nhl pod after I’ve made lineups and I’m really hating how much i wanted to play Chicago 1/2 but didn’t… it just makes too much sense especially w/out vladar.
Let’s see how this ages
Want to know the secret to how I shipped this past week’s Monday showdown single entry contest? It’s not as complicated as you think…

5) finally, each slate is different.
This lineup was made primarily of chalky players. You might make a lineup or two and as you do, you can catch yourself finding real value in cheap players and when/where you need to go for value.
You do not have the same time for the amount of research they are doing. This is good and bad.
Bad - you may overlook cheap value that they don’t.
Good - you won’t overthink the “obvious”
4) 3. Learn from your mistakes & DONT GIVE UP.
I’ve been played dfs in many sports for 7+ years… it is HIGHLY unlikely that you will be net positive in the first few years. You are playing against people that do this for a LIVING - take this into account in many ways…
3) Tell a story - no matter how crazy it is as long as it’s possible.
The most optimal lineups (especially in showdowns) are often times the most ridiculous paths to victory (ie. Jonnu smith rushing touchdown).
2) tools are great but not necessary.
I created this lineup in less than 5 minutes at the last second. I saw Warren had an illness and had to trust my gut that the optimal captain on this slate had a very good chance at being gainwell & knew I had to create another lineup (gut)
Ownership can only go so far & in my experience, it really only matters at the top 2-5% of the contest pool. Don’t fixate on variables like ownership that ultimately won’t get you in green.
YES, obviously you need to be aware of the chalk, but don’t overthink it!!!
1) trust your gut.
If you are like me, you do your due diligence each week & stick to the variables that you believe define success and scoring the most points. At the end of the day, that’s what it is - who can score the most points at each position.
