Even if you think so little of JZ, I highly doubt he’s as clueless or stupid as you want to make him out to be. Back in 2004, he was the ANC Deputy President and Deputy President of the Republic when he visited Clive Derby-Lewis. Let’s be real, he didn’t just stroll in there unnoticed; he had a full presidential security detail, core staff, and advisers with him, so he clearly knew exactly what he was doing. It wasn’t some secret visit. The same goes for when he visited De Kock in 2011 at Pretoria Central Prison. By then, he was President and Head of State, again rolling in with a full presidential entourage; the security detail, his spokesperson Vincent Magwenya, other staff, probably the president's doctor, and all the people who always travel with the President wherever he is at any particular time. That wasn’t a hush-hush moment either. He knew full well what he was doing because there were people around him every time. Surely if there was anything nefarious as many would like to suggest when playing around with conspiracy theories he wouldn't have done it so carelessly....
