The most important thing to protect from regulators in crypto is self-custody. Do not let them convince the public that this is an illegal or bad thing.
When the next major financial crisis hits, western governments will outlaw crypto and offer an exchange for CBDCs. That way, they retake total control of monetary policy AND they take significant control of the remaining black crypto market.
I have a theory that there are a disproportionate number of Scottish people working in crypto. Probably the same for a few other countries too, like Argentina. But Scotland is an interesting case.
@dystopiabreaker I was originally put off hacking on Ethereum because I listened to an especially negative HN comment back in ~2016. Thankfully I found my way back to it a couple of years later, but still, critical learning time lost.
There's something poetic about the biggest technological feat since the Bitcoin genesis block in '09 occurring in the midst of rampant inflation and a stock market meltdown caused by out of touch bureaucrats wielding too much power

I'm always surprised by how negative HN is towards Ethereum/crypto. If the commentators in question dove into the dev side of the ecosystem they'd see that it's almost exactly the original HN ethos.
