Sciencing data @Shopify // Getting ethical about ML @AISC_TO // Podcasting about music @TheYoML // "Not here / Not here the darkness, in this twittering world"
ICYMI, last night, at the same time as I was giving a YouTube talk on the last five years in AI ethics, @carlyraejepsen was having a YouTube karaoke party celebrating the last five years since E•MO•TION. Coincidence?? 🌈💖 https://t.co/xFz1MCKg8R https://t.co/tugRycGAyH
💯. Ethical and social critiques of AI & ML research are often misunderstood as being anti-science and anti-progress -- when really, they're just calling out the research for being intellectually lazy and facile
If ML researchers want to be taken seriously, they should start by taking themselves seriously. The lack of thought around the tasks the field chooses to rally around astounds me - we need to begin critically reflecting on what kind of problems this tech can meaningfully solve.
@hypervisible@mrcathands I mean, it's no walk in the park, but it's very, very good. It reminds me a lot of Breath of the Wild. If you liked that, Elden Ring has a similar sense of exploration, vastness, difficulty, and wonder. But yeah you die a lot 😆
I'm the "I support CANADALAND" blurb on today's @CANADALAND! And it's a good one: A hard-hitting interview on the (much obscured) details of Canada's news media bailout https://t.co/sPi3hYdgTV
Check out this article on our response to the @TPSBoard's policy on the use of AI in policing! Thanks to @smnikpoor and the other members of @AISC_TO who worked with me on this
As a final note, I was pleased to have the opportunity to feature an image from @ImagesofAI as our article cover image – "Quantified Human" by Alan Warburton (@cgwtf). Check them out! https://t.co/tzrx0W7n9V 15/15
Over the past two weeks, I have worked with @smnikpoor and other members of @AISC_TO to respond to @TPSBoard's call for public feedback on their Use of Artificial Intelligence Technology Policy. Here is our response: https://t.co/0bjB2QKW7J Some highlights... 1/15
All this being said, we do appreciate this draft Policy, and are grateful to the @TPSBoard for proactively seeking out feedback from the public at this stage. We hope our feedback will prove useful as the TPSB works to revise this Policy. 14/15
