I am delighted to share that I have been selected as a Fellow of the 2026 African Youth Negotiators Fellowship (AYNF).

This fellowship presents a unique opportunity to strengthen my understanding of international climate negotiations and engage with a network of young leaders committed to shaping Africa’s climate future. As climate impacts continue to affect communities across the continent, it is increasingly important that young people are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and platforms needed to contribute meaningfully to policy processes and decision-making.

I look forward to learning from experienced negotiators, exchanging ideas with fellows from across Africa, and deepening my engagement on issues at the intersection of climate change, climate mobility, migration, peace, and sustainable development.

However, adoption alone is not enough. We must move beyond signing declarations and commitments to ensuring effective implementation, adequate financing, strong data systems, and accountability mechanisms that translate policy into action.

The frameworks exist. The task before us is to make them work for the communities and people most affected by climate change.

We cannot fully address the challenges of climate mobility without adopting and implementing meaningful frameworks that respond to the realities of climate change and its impacts across the South, East, and Horn of Africa.

Today, I called for more countries to adopt the Kampala Declaration on Migration, Environment and Climate Change, one of the few regional frameworks that comprehensively addresses the links between climate mobility, environmental degradation, displacement, adaptation, and resilience.
