Can Botswana market its way out of economic trouble? President Duma Boko refers to synthetic diamonds as "fake".

[Duma Gideon Boko @duma_boko]

We join hands with Angola and other diamond-producing nations to safeguard the integrity, heritage and value of the natural diamond.

The name “diamond” must remain reserved for the natural diamond. Any alternative product, must carry its own distinct name.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

News out of Sudan is so grim. Latest atrocity is what rights group say is an ethnic killing of a civilian from the non Arab Berti tribe. He is questioned + executed at close range by an RSF fighter. Despite a lot of evidence, the UAE continues to deny backing this brutal militia.

Lot of sense in here from Botswana's president Duma Boko.

“We’ve seen how over reliance on trade with certain powers of the world has rendered us so vulnerable that we’re now dependent on their mood swings…”

In his maiden SADC Summit speech, Botswana’s President @duma_boko calls for increased intra-African trade.

The RSF has carried out appalling atrocities in Sudan. But here's evidence of atrocities by the security forces including the army in Khartoum.

Don't people want more culture and less death in their media diet? Radio France International had a show called "World Music Matters". It stopped in 2020. Matters or Doesn't Matter?

Chad's opposition leader and ex PM Succes Masra given a 20 year prison sentence for hate speech, xenophobia and having incited a massacre. Some rights groups and the opposition say it was a politically motivated case.

Anyone seen Omar Al Bashir? Just wondering as the lawyer for his former defence minister Abdel Raheem Muhammad Hussein who is also wanted by the ICC for crimes against humanity says Hussein is being moved to his home in Northern State of Sudan where he'll be under "house arrest"

Let's also not forget that Putin's aims are not limited to capturing territory. His continued insistence on removing 'the root causes of the crisis' can only be interpreted as objective to install a pro-Russian puppet regime

Rest in peace Hon. Phoebe Asiyo.

My father's tribute in the euology has brought both warmth and laughter. He recalled the day Phoebe asked him to take care of her car. He stood proudly, guarding it like treasure. Then it started to rain but he didn't know how to....

List of names of those murdered by the RSF militia in Markaz Al-Ziyadiya village in North Kordufan. The RSF militia is moving from village to village in Kordufan killing, looting and raping.
More pressure needs to be applied on to the UAE to stop them from sponsoring this terror

[Mohanad @MohanadElbalal]

6 months ago Souq Libya on the edges of Greater Omdurman was devoid of all civilian life and served as a hub for the RSF militia. A video from today shows that the market has virtually entirely returned to its old bustling self.

📢 I get asked by people in governments and media all the time: “How do we know if things have gotten REALLY bad in El Fasher?” Look at the images below of swelling graveyards growing exponentially in past few weeks. What more does world need to see to act in Darfur and Sudan?
