"I follow the conventions of 'cosy crime' so I try to keep gore and violence out because of who my main character is and the situation, and it doesn't need to be in this book but I still want to get across that these crimes are terrible."

"I wanted it to be an easy read, but for me there's a lot of paddling under the water you don't see. A huge amount of work goes into all the different layers... Tippy knows more than she gives off to the adults but theres still things that goes over her head."
