The ODM party, once known for drawing organic crowds without spending a shilling, is now reportedly spending millions to mobilise supporters for its rallies to project strength and loyalty.
The party faces a daunting task of rebuilding trust among its supporters after a difficult week that has exposed internal fault lines and emerging rivalries. Sources say the use of inducements to boost attendance at party events is increasingly becoming commonplace.

Governor James Orengo BLOWS THE LID OPEN on the debt crisis and how the government is selling Kenya's Crown Jewel to escape from borrowing yet still BORROWING.
"Safaricom this financial year is paying into the Treasury 16B shillings in terms of dividends. Now, why would you want to sell an asset like that the goose that lays the golden eggs. Kenya Pipeline Corporation we've sold to Uganda. I mean the oil that goes to Uganda goes through that pipeline." @orengo_james
Orange Democratic Movement splinter group Linda Mwananchi has now set its eyes on regions traditionally considered non-ODM bases as it continues to popularise its agenda and build a national appeal. https://t.co/T26a14Q3O3

What should have been a normal political engagement was repeatedly disrupted by violence, roadblocks, stone-throwing, and attacks on members of our team.
However, one thing became crystal clear: political differences should never stop any Kenyan from freely traversing any part of this country. We may not agree politically with the county leadership, but we still came because Kenya belongs to all of us.
I strongly condemn these acts of violence and call on authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable. Politics must never descend into chaos, intimidation, or bloodshed.
To the people of Homabay, thank you for your courage, warmth, and determination. Your spirit reminded us that no amount of intimidation can silence a people whose time has come.
James Orengo is in Suba, Homa Bay today, the heartland of Gladys Wanga and John Mbadi.
The reception has been hard to ignore.
If Linda Mwananchi can gain traction in ODM's Wanga's own backyard, then what is really left of the old guard led by Oburu?
And unlike many political rallies, Linda Mwananchi is largely organic.
The ground is moving. The establishment just hasn't accepted it yet.
Today, I had the privilege of accompanying our de facto party leader, Governor @orengo_james , to Sindo in Homa Bay County.
Let me state this clearly: political differences should never be used as a barrier to prevent leaders from visiting any part of Kenya. Democracy thrives when ideas compete, not when citizens are denied the opportunity to hear different voices. Despite our political differences with the county leadership, we came in peace, we engaged the people, and we listened.
It is therefore unfortunate and unacceptable that violence was directed at members of our team, including Comrade Civilizer Aran. We strongly condemn any attempt to use intimidation, threats, or hired goons to silence political expression. There is no place for violence in our politics.
What we found in Sindo was not politics it was the daily reality of wananchi. .The people of Sindo spoke honestly, boldly, and without fear. Their message was simple, they want dignity, opportunity, and leadership that delivers.
We remain committed to peaceful engagement, respectful dialogue, and the ongoing struggle to build a fairer and more prosperous Kenya for all.
Erokamano, Sindo. The journey continues.
