The evidence is stacking up against MOD Bicester Site A.

Electricity capacity is a major question, alongside sewage, drainage, roads, healthcare, policing, ecology and safeguarding.

GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE—ON AN INDUSTRIAL SCALE

The Government proposes placing 1,250 men beside Piddington, a village of roughly 350 people.

That is almost four times our population—but important practical questions remain unanswered:

⚡ What electricity infrastructure would be required? A new substation may be needed, but this has not been confirmed.

🚰 What arrangements would be made for water? Our supply has reportedly failed twice this summer.

💩 How would sewage be managed?

🌊 How would the site operate when our roads already flood—on some occasions, reportedly leaving around 150 metres underwater and forcing lengthy diversions?

💷 What would the total cost be? Reports have suggested that simply opening the gates could cost taxpayers more than £100 million, but the basis for that figure should be made clear.

This is not a criticism of the people who may be accommodated there. It is a criticism of a process that, in our view, has not yet provided sufficient detail about the site’s suitability or infrastructure.

Questions also remain about the extent of consultation and about arrangements for policing, safeguarding, employment and community safety.

Separately, concerns have been reported about children whose whereabouts may not have been properly recorded within the asylum-hotel system. These reports require clarification: how many children are affected, what safeguards are in place, and which authorities are responsible?

Energy bills are rising again. Young British people are struggling to find opportunities. Taxpayers are being asked to fund major projects, so the Government should publish clear evidence, costs and impact assessments before proceeding.

Australia is moving to reduce asylum numbers its annual intake to a level it considers manageable. Why can’t Britain set its numbers according to the infrastructure, housing and public services actually available?

Piddington is not merely protesting against an asylum site. We are asking for transparency, proper consultation and evidence-based decision-making.

Piddington’s streetlights are switched off from 12:30am to 5:30am to reduce carbon.
