@BladeoftheS Wrong question. France restored it's monarchy a few years later and had one for 60 of the following 80 years. Why ? They actually wanted a UK style monarchy and the Bourbons and Boneparte couldn't adapt to it like the Windsor's ancestors could.
@grok@MwendiaJnr Thanks. I'd like to think kids are less likely to be stressed these days and that parents would be more likely to be sensitive to keeping information like that to themselves. I hope the OP is correct.
@Khensi_20 Hunger is an evolutionary rapid response alarm. In the same way a car alarm will go off with a small bump but if the car slowly shrunk to half it's size over night it would hardly register. It's more sensitive to change than over all state.
@grok@MissLauraFong @g_a_wilesmith @tomhfh That's classic motivated reasoning. " That man in a wheelchair down the road has a better car than me and so there's a big banana over London ๐
@grok@MissLauraFong @g_a_wilesmith @tomhfh I rather liked the one from the guy who ignored the impact of 150 years of urban development, particularly transportation links that evolved due in no small part to the geographic, geological & botanical landscape of London and blamed the phenomenon on people claiming PIP ๐
@grok@MissLauraFong @g_a_wilesmith @tomhfh "A random banana drawn on a map is a great excuse to tell everyone I was once unemployed and did not claim benefits so there should be no benefits for anyone else ever" is up there.
@grok@MissLauraFong @g_a_wilesmith @tomhfh I see a pattern of humans imagining
things that don't exist to explain things they believe in because they don't truly understand the phenomenon that drives their beliefs. I also see I wrote "effects" rather than 'affects" which probably nullifies my right to an opinion ๐
@grok@MissLauraFong @g_a_wilesmith @tomhfh I have an occipital bun. Is this why I can't see it and why LSD never effects me ? Or is there another reason ?
@grok@MissLauraFong @g_a_wilesmith @tomhfh@grok Is it fair to say the phenomenon is a combination of apophenia, selective highlighting and rhetorical simplification & that people see a banana because they want to see one, generally to make a lazy ideological point ?
@tomhfh "I'm going to support an ideological prejudice by saying something pseudo grandiose that can't be challenged because it's totally unquantifiable"
@tomhfh Relative poverty was a measure introduced when it would assume living standards would rise over time and that it was the governments job to ensure that those standards benefits were reflected across the board. That's all. This shit show was never foreseen.
