📢 📢 I wrote a two-parter about non-profits, urgency cultures, toxic productivity and the racial politics of time. With thanks to the 221 people who filled in the survey which informed this article 🙏🏾 PS Share with your funders! https://t.co/R1iL9oGT4n
@beccacaddy Learned at 30. Lessons in Edinburgh, Bedfordshire, Lusaka and Harare so my driving style was a bit all over the shop. Had my passport stolen by an instructor in Zimbabwe but also learned an amazing parallel parking technique. Passed first time in the UK. It can be done!
📢 📢 Non-profit friends! I’m writing an article about urgency and how non-profits approach time management. I’m keen to explore how we can reimagine time!
✍️🏾If you have a spare 5 minutes (!), I’d be grateful if you’d fill out or share this survey. https://t.co/pNfTgfonml
@MaryHeglar Have you come across “L’esprit de l’escalier”? It’s one of my favourite phrases. In my case I tend to think of the perfect retort 5-10 years later…https://t.co/Kh0IYYhAxx
This is so a reaction, and so absurd. I've been called 'f***ing foreigner' on Trinity Street, right at the genteel heart of oh so genteel Cambridge, by an elderly gentlement in hat and suit. The gaslighting is worse than the original episode.
My wife was racially abused this morning while walking the dog in Cambridge. Not the first time it's happened. Whenever she talks about this, the reaction she gets is 'really, in Cambridge??'. Yes, really, in Cambridge. And everywhere else in the UK too. Open your eyes.
People in Cambridge (UK) hate to hear this (due to a sense of liberal smugness) but this city is home to a lot of 'genteel' racism. It's also the site of much overt bigotry - white in a van called me a p*** on my morning dog walk. Spent my morning reporting a hate crime.
@leilabilling We’re going to see a lot of this BS like this aren’t we. Already the former editor of the FT has described this as our ‘Obama moment’ 🤦♂️
The Tintin French-English/English-French dictionary is absolutely full of useful day to day phrases. Sadly (and entirely predictably) much of it is unfit to reprint.
@johncutlefish And yet humans continue to create non-value-producing processes and then defend them with their lives once they’re in place. We’re a weird bunch.
