@alecrobbins It was actually a pretty sick game with some cool surprising stuff like lite metroidvania design. Good to see you guys are doing another one
There is so much to appreciate about the demo, but the lens fx in the cutscenes was really nice
They put in some really nice work to add cool depth of field, radial blurring, anamorphic bokeh, subtle aberration, and just a really nice general level of lens-like softness
@matiasbergara I just finished volume 3 and it was a visual and narrative delight the whole way.
Easily my favorite comic right now. Super excited to see your and Spurrier's next stuff.
>Marathon's entire artstyle is stolen:
>Bungie Stealing ‘Marathon’ Art Is Probably The Last Straw
>Marathon developer Bungie has been accused of, and has now admitted to, stealing artwork used in the current build of Marathon from an artist who first published the work in 2017.
>That artist is ANTIREAL, who posted several comparisons of her work and existing Bungie Marathon assets which go far beyond “inspiration” and often are direct 1:1 lifts of images, words, symbols and even ANTIREAL’s own personal logo. One of her statements:
>Within a matter of hours as this began to spread virally, Bungie issued a statement saying it was a “former Bungie artist” who included the decals in a “texture sheet” that ultimately went into the game. The issue was supposedly unknown by the “existing art team” but obviously many, many questions have been raised about all this as Bungie continues to investigate.
>blatant plagiarism and copypaste
>they even pasted in the original artists watermark in the actual ingame textures
Marathon was going to have a complete uphill battle with everyone saying its Concord 2 and the alpha being a trainwreck, and now this
Is Bungie done?
I get it if people think ray tracing or path tracing shouldn't get prioritized as often as it does. A lot of art styles dont need it
But PT is literally an imitation of how real light works. There are obvious reasons why some media's art styles are going to call for that
Very sad that the over use of basic qualities of light and picture like motion blur and chromatic aberration are seen as annoying graphics settings by gamers
Things that need to disappear from games forever:
- Motion Blur
- Games starting at 100% volume
- Thick Film grain
- Motion Blur
- Lens Flare
- Bloom
- Motion Blur
- Over-engineered/Cluttered UI
- Chromatic Abberation
- Motion Blur
- I fucking hate motion blur
@CombatDevolved@TrafalgarLaw356 Chief actually starts questioning whether its ethical to be killing rebels very early on. Like basically immediately hes like "wait"
