Students collaborating with faculty on research is central to Mac's academic experience. Three students worked with biology professor Mary Heskel to examine redlining’s impact on today's air quality, yielding a published article in a scientific journal. https://t.co/dAFwWwW83r
Humans did this to me. Not trout, nor eagle, nor moose, but humans.
Without environmental protections humans will do this again. Remember, you need me to live, not the other way around.
Understand that today's EPA ruling is the culmination of decades of careful and patient work by big business using dark money.
It is the logical end point of the Powell memo

I wish I had good news for you, Minnesota, but #COVID19 cases are growing rapidly — at basically the pace we saw this time last year.
Positivity rate is also rising, perhaps slightly less dramatically, but still at an aggressive pace. We’re now over 9%.
I managed to miss most of the horrible Paternity Leave Discourse because, well, I'm on paternity leave until January.
But: Parental leave should be universal, and it should be universally taken. And not just so men can be helpmates to their wives, who're doing the Real Work.
Re-circulating this great opportunity!

BREAKING NEWS! We have just made an incredible discovery at the Digervarden ice patch, Norway. We have found the best-preserved prehistoric pair of skis in the world! 1300 years old and both have the bindings preserved. The second of the two skis has just come out of the ice❤️
Another addition to the list of sad Climate Change images of the year. At least this one doesn't involve loss of human life. How much do we need to see to do something???

Firefighters are wrapping fire-resistant blankets around ancient trees — including the 275 ft General Sherman, the biggest tree by volume on Earth — and historic signs as blazes tear through California's world-famous Sequoia National Park.

Experiencing all this flooding in NYC right now and thinking about all the politicians who told me that pursuing a Green New Deal to adapt our nat’l infrastructure to climate change is “unrealistic” & “too expensive.”
As if doing too little is the responsible, adult thing to do?
Warm ocean waters are an essential prerequisite for strong hurricanes. We virtually never see very strong (cat 4 and 5) hurricanes when ocean surface temps are below 81F.
By warming our oceans, climate change will tend to result in stronger hurricanes, all things being equal.
UPDATE: Lockdowns & arrests continued overnight, Hubbard County deployed an LRAD. 150+ Water Protectors are in custody.
The boat blockade is still holding, 30+ police on-site. We stand! ✊🏽❤️

So excited to share a study led by @allisoncluett in @PNASnews! Greenland terrestrial summers were not exceptionally warm during long #superinterglacial#MIS11, but #MIS5e was short and hot. The ice sheet stuck around despite the MIS5e heat, but probably melted away in MIS11.
Even to the well-trained eye, deciphering details in a natural-color satellite image can be tough. Are those green pixels a patch of deciduous trees? Is that blue spot a lake? With land cover maps like this, there's no need to guess. https://t.co/aZQDTd6cJU
Amazing new work by @samantha_bova et al.! Novel GHG forcing insight gained from comparing interglacials. This one is a must read.
Oh and turns out the seasonality embedded in global proxy data is pretty darn important too :)
.@samantha_bova with some hot new takes in @nature on proxy-model discrepancies in Holocene temperatures and oh shoot... CO₂ drives warming 😱
