IPOB accuses Anambra Governor Soludo of hypocrisy after criticising Peter Obi, citing his previous public support for Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom. https://t.co/SX0SGTRWBk
It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has criticised the Federal High Court ruling ordering the deregistration of some political parties, warning that any action perceived to undermine the independence of key national institutions could have far-reaching consequences for Nigeria’s democracy and economy.
Obi argued that strong nations are built on credible institutions that operate independently and enjoy public trust. He cautioned that weakening confidence in the judiciary could erode faith in the rule of law and discourage investment at a time when Nigeria needs economic growth and stability. Reflecting on past concerns over judicial independence, Obi stressed that investors can navigate security, policy and market risks, but are often deterred by uncertainty surrounding the rule of law and perceptions of political interference in the courts

This latest assault on our democracy must not be allowed to stand. The court-ordered deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties is nothing short of a brazen attempt to strangle Opposition and hand Nigeria over to a one-party state by judicial fiat.
I have fought for democracy my entire adult life. I stood on the streets for #BringBackOurGirls, I have spoken truth to power under different administrations, and I entered partisan politics because I believe in a Nigeria where citizens have real choices and not a predetermined outcome. Today, I condemn in the strongest possible terms the Federal High Court judgment that seeks to deregister ADC, Accord Party, Action Alliance, Action Peoples Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
Section 225A of the Constitution was never intended to be a weapon for eliminating opposition voices. The judiciary is once again showing that it is willing tool for perpetuating injustice instead of enforcing justice.
To INEC and the forces behind this judgment, Nigerians have endured too much economic hardship, insecurity, and broken promises to now accept the death of democracy. This democracy we now enjoy was made possible by the sacrifices of a lot of Nigerians, some of whom paid the ultimate price. They gave their lives for Nigeria to be a democratic nation.
To my fellow citizens, this is not a time to be silent. This is not about ADC or any single party. This is about whether Nigeria will remain a democracy or slide into authoritarian rule where only one voice is permitted. Raise your voices. Demand that INEC respects the will of the people and that the judiciary stops being used as a tool for political elimination.
Democracy is not a gift from those in power; it is a right we must defend every single day. I stand with every Nigerian who believes in choice, in competition of ideas, and in a future where no one can simply deregister the opposition out of existence.

Stop fighting the new lads in NDC and concentrate on selling Peter Obi, please.
In politics, you must be ready to work with friends and enemies while you keep your guard up.
Nigeria will be OK ✌🏾
Barack and I were so honored to have @AkunyiliCrosby create our portrait for the Obama Presidential Center. Her artistic brilliance shines through — and the way she infused such life and joy into the piece is truly extraordinary. We love it, and we think everyone who visits the Center will too!
Your PVC is more than a card; it is your voice, your power, and your responsibility. Every election is an opportunity to shape the future we desire. Don’t sit on the sidelines and complain participate, vote, and be part of the change. Together, we can build a nation founded on good governance, accountability, and shared prosperity. Register, collect your PVC, and make your vote count. Nigeria will be OK. 🇳🇬✊🏾
When you have lived outside Nigeria for too long and seen the currency devalued over time, you no longer take Nigerian income as seriously as you used to. Any Naira I make, I know is going into solving problems the country has created. It chokes up any income made. No respite.
A Message to Governor Charles Soludo
Governor @CCSoludo, your recent overtures to the APC and repeated lectures urging Igbos to abandon their political independence reveal a dangerous misunderstanding of the people you lead.
The more you push this narrative, the faster you erode whatever remains of your political capital. Whispers of a 2031 vice-presidential ticket may sound sweet in Abuja corridors, but Anambra’s wise and watchful citizens know better. History shows that once your governorship ends, the ceiling is likely a one-term senatorial seat, after which the same electorate that tolerated you today will deliver a decisive verdict tomorrow.
Your administration has little remarkable to show. Instead of legacy-defining infrastructure, we see substandard projects already crumbling. Works that any serious successor may need to demolish and restart within months. Even more damning are the rising reports of human rights abuses. Groups linked to your government, including elements reportedly operating under figures like Ugo Udogachi/Agunaechemba have allegedly resorted to brutal tactics: using mortars to dislodge citizens’ patellae and machetes in arrests. Stripping a NYSC lady. These acts of intimidation and violence against your own people will not be forgotten.
Soludo, the Southeast will not deliver its votes for any ticket bearing your name in 2031. The Southwest will not compensate for that deficit. No amount of professorial confidence can rewrite electoral realities or erase collective memory. The Igbos you lecture are among the most politically astute in Nigeria. They may endure present discomfort, but they repay betrayal in their own measured time.
Your tenure is ticking. When it ends, you will discover that no one truly hated you. Yet the people simply refused to be taken for granted. Heed this now, before the door of relevance closes forever.
If 10% of the killings and death happening daily in the North happens in the South, the entire media will be set abuzz and the people will be out in the streets.
I don't know why the North is comfortable with the large scale killings?
Why are they not talking about it?
NTA would have reported that Peter Obi sent IPOB to kidnap and terrorise SW, causing their Monarchs to flee.
But thank God for the Internet and individual strong will to have independent media 🙏...
