Crop separation is perceived as a barrier to #intercropping, but new technology is making this process easier & more accessible
The group went to see some of this tech in action - here you can see the before & after for a wheat/bean intercrop
Thanks @McArthur_Agri for the demo!
If you’re looking for a good cause to donate to over the festive season, please consider Paul. A great guy who has unfortunately been diagnosed with myopathy mitochondrial disease. He and his family really deserve any help you could spare. https://t.co/pAevmJ0iV2 #iDonate_ie
79% of the worlds cows live in Africa, South America and Asia - Western Europe accounts for just 2% of the population. With a British cow emitting 17x lower CO2eq/kg than a Tanzanian cow and 3x lower than a Brazilian cow…global averages are fun but see how they can skew?
This year’s potato harvest is the worst in recent memory which is rapidly turning into a salvage operation as drills are underwater following recent flooding, IFA potato committee chair Seán Ryan has said.

2023 potato harvest , IFA quoting 60% still to be lifted. Stress and strain on growers is now concerning. Growers have high cost outlays still stuck in ground. Bacterial breakdown, skin disease and overall quality will be a challenge in storage.@farmersjournal@IFAmedia
Serious issues facing all field vegetable and potato growers along with tillage in general. High levels of waste have been seen in all crops due to poor weather conditions for the whole year. Retailers need to take a long hard look at what growers face daily and discount produce.
We are recruiting a Farm Manager due to growth and upward progression of our current farm manager within the business. Please share with suitable candidates. Thanks
@ArableSam@John_Dunne_ We find there’s a good bit less N left after the peas compared to the s. beans. You would hardly see the residual N in the following crop after the peas, where as you could lodge a crop quickly after the beans if you weren’t keeping it in mind…. Not that that’s ever happened! 😉
Reading this study from Canada again FARMERS income is the green . From 1985 to 2016 agribusiness (input suppliers and service providers)received 98% of the 1.35trillion of revenue from agriculture production . Something seriously wrong there .
