What broke today while learning AI Agents?

Everything.

I spent hours debugging an agent that refused to call the right tool.

The issue wasn't the model.

It wasn't the API.

It wasn't the SDK.

It was my tool definition.

One tiny mistake caused the entire workflow to fail.

One of the most important concepts I've learned this week is Tool Calling.

Without tools, an LLM is limited to what it already knows.

With tools, it can:

• Query databases
• Call APIs
• Send emails
• Create tickets
• Fetch documents
• Update business systems

Today I built my first AI Agent.

Not a chatbot.

An actual agent capable of deciding when to use tools to accomplish a task.

One of the biggest mindset shifts I've had is understanding the difference between:
