the mail box man encounter — actually very intense and a moment that most comedies would play up too much or lean to absurd — but Linklater keeps it grounded which makes it scarier and feel way more realistic — one of those quick moments of fear in a night of teenage innocence

Sasha Jenson’s physicality is so great — the way he walks, the way he flirts, the way he sits — doing some real great douche acting

Jason London is the perfect straight man for this movie— he brings out the best of each actor and he doesn’t get enough credit for this movie. Any time he’s with McConaughey, he keeps the scene grounded. Matty gets the laughs and gets remembered, but London makes it real

The entire baseball game sequence is so good — the way Linklater uses the final strike to create a little visual tension — the slow tilt down, the wind up, the reverberating sound and the lack of music for the first time in awhile, just to come back with No More Mr Nice Guy!!!
