Happy Motherโs Day! These little ones have left the nest and begun to hunt. I've enjoyed watching Mom on the far right nurture and guard her three babies.
A couple young Great Horned owls last Friday, the remaining pair from a brood of three in the Bx. This week I learned the other died, likely due to rodenticide still used on the grounds. So unfortunate. These two stuck together while their fated sibling went deeper in the forest.
I keep my distance from birders chasing stats & clout. He saw in 4 min what took me 2 yrs, not from legwork, but by asking me. I requested he not post. He posted anyway. Every time I've shared owl locations, I've regretted it. The reward is in the search itself.
Lesson learned.
