If you’re anywhere near Sunnyvale tonight and want to stop by the Quarter Note Bar & Grill, you can check out some live music and we’d love to see you! Bionic Sloth hits the stage at 9, so we will go on around 10:30. Which is normally past my bedtime but…Rock and roll!!!
Feel Good Friday afternoon tune: our band, The Vida Blues Band, performing ’What I Am’ by Edie Brickell. Check it out, give it a like, subscribe on YouTube if you’re so inclined! Thanks!

Not trying to make any sort of political statement, just hoping that there’s a place for conversation among baseball fans and (relatively) normal people lol. If you happen to be on BlueSky and want to connect, I’m @tenstadiums.bsky.social. Maintaining both accounts for now!
It was super cool having Sacramento @kfbk sports guy @markdemsky share his expertise with my sports magazine students today; Mark was the reporter who first interviewed Scott Boras about his Sacramento A’s concerns last month. Good stuff from a true pro!
So anyway, the fact that @Amtrak doesn’t seem to care if people who book their service actually get to their destination makes it unlikely we’ll book again. And now I know I can make it from the peninsula to Arcata in five hours. And we got extra time in the car with the kid!
John Fisher’s A’s lost 112 games last season and look like they might be worse in 2024. Payroll is $48 mil, which is not remotely close to the 29th worst payroll. They may move to a minor league ballpark next year. How is MLB ok with this? How can you let this fool own a team?
I wrote about Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Nebraska, if you’d like to give it a read. There are photos of baseball dogs too, if that sort of thing entices you! 🐕🐾🦴🌭 https://t.co/nFvVXSTT9k
Baseball mom @jenmatsuzawa with a fantastic version of “Take me out to the ballgame” on her accordion. I think this was the fourth inning stretch. Nothing better than little league baseball.
Looks like the ‘Reverse Boycott’ pack-the-coliseum event is a go! It’s June 13, 6:40 game against the Rays. This is a chance to show the idiot ownership how much the fans in Oakland really WOULD support a product that wasn’t being intentionally sabotaged. Hope to see you there!!
My daughter played catcher for a total of maybe two innings in her little league career and mostly hated it 😂 but she gave me one of my favorite baseball photo opportunities
We’re trying out a few new tunes on Saturday if you are near Redwood City and want to swing by to hang out for a bit! @freewheelbrew has great food and great brews ready for you too!
If you happen to be near Redwood City tonight, stop by and check us out at @freewheelbrew. We’ll be playing a bunch of great tunes starting at 6:30! Yes, I’ll probably be wearing another @lastdivebar shirt!
I like how the Red Sox hashtag #Votedevers could mean a present tense vote for Rafael Devers, or could mean a long-ago vote for Cubs second baseman Johnny Evers.
Didn’t get to see the A’s lose again (but did catch the end of the Warriors win!) because we were having a ton of fun playing a packed-house show at Freewheel Brewery; my son joined us to rock out on a couple songs too. It was an amazing night for the Vida Blues Band!
Thanks to Wordle, my readers are absolutely loving our Word Work time. They are playing with spelling patterns and vowel combinations and having FUN! #WordleRocks @goMPCSD @LaurelMPCSD
Two of my students published this great story about Brendan Beck, who pitched for @Stanford in the college World Series, was drafted 55th overall by the @Yankees, and is, oh by the way, also serving as a substitute teacher at our school! Give it a read!

Fairfield Properties Ballpark, formerly Bethpage, home of the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. Opened in 2000, seats 6000, managed by Wally Backman. Good place to grab a foul ball; my nephew left with three of them on the day we went!
