From a trip to Colorado a little more than a year ago. I like natural spaces where I get to play with light, shadow, texture, and composition. Happy Nature Photography Day! #naturephotographyday
He introduced me to places, ideas, and foods I have never considered. Thank you for everything. I raise this bowl of pho, or the ancient truth of life in a bowl, to you. I miss you.
Yesterday was a very mixed bag for me. On one hand I was in one of my favorite spots, but in the other I lost someone I have long considered a hero. I stumbled upon Anthony Bourdain during the early years of my relationship with my wife and he became staple viewing in our house,
even when we weren’t watching much television. He embodied everything I am not, going and doing, where I would and do sit and overthink. He was bold and always pushed his comfort zone, but his heart always shined through.
He is always there to greet me when I come home, kill a toy and bring it to me in the middle of the night with a loud proclamation, and stare out at the woods for hours with me. He’s the epitome of a grump, but he’s my grump.
Schroeder’s adoption day was Friday, but as we were out of town, I’m celebrating him today. He’s a lovable sourpuss, seen here protecting my lap desk (aka his bed when I’m not using it, and sometimes when I’d like to use it).
50 years ago the world lost Martin Luther King Jr. A visionary who was also just a man working to make the world a better place. While progress has been made since that day, in so many ways we have fallen short of his message and his dream. We must do more, we must be better.
Everyone should be able to live as their most authentic self. To my transgender friends the world over, I see, respect, admire, and love you. #TransDayOfVisibility
This is devastating news. I’m happy he’s at peace, but sad for the species and what it says about our care of these majestic creatures. https://t.co/eH8caewVd8
After a more than eight year journey, we are proud to announce that the YMCA of WNC is officially a licensed #Medicare provider! https://t.co/3SM1sN8fLd
YMCA of the USA-Diversity Opportunity Team (DOT) hosted a Lunch & Learn; honoring & celebrating richness of African culture. Through storytelling we reflect on the African journey/experience to and in America. #BlackHistoryMonth. 🙌🏾 #YforAll#BHM#BLM#ForABetterUs
No, person who doesn’t seem to like watching black people enjoy themselves, Black Panther will not reduce the racial wealth gap or solve the issues of public education, but it would be great if black artists could create work that isn’t tasked with having to solve all social ills
As one who has devoted his life to the service of others and our community, may we take today, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, to recognize that we are not yet an equal and equitable society, and that the fight through powerful and peaceful resistance, is still a fight worth having.
