The SA Reserve Bank will once again be participating in Money Smart Week South Africa (MSWSA) from 28 August to 3 September. The Bank will be driving awareness around 419 scams, deposit insurance and the security features of our upgraded currency.
🚨[WATCH] The SA Reserve Bank (SARB) is warning consumers about advance fee fraud scams, commonly known as 419 scams. A 419 scam occurs when fraudsters persuade you to send them money with a promise of a larger reward in return. Scammers sometimes even send fake documents featuring the SARB logo and forged signatures of the Governor or other SARB officials, falsely claiming they've transferred millions to your bank account. Remember, the SARB never requires payment to release funds. Stay vigilant! #MSWSA2023
