“Eligibility for any female category event at the Olympic Games or any other IOC event, including individual and team sports, is now limited to biological females,” the International Olympic Committee said, “determined on the basis of a one‑time SRY gene screening.”
It is unclear how many, if any, transgender women are competing at an Olympic level. No woman who transitioned from being born male competed at the 2024 Paris Summer Games.
The eligibility policy that will apply from the LA Olympics in July 2028 “protects fairness, safety and integrity in the female category,” the IOC said. | via @AP
The problem with people casually zooming in with satellite images to pertain destruction have little to no understanding about the context is that they're freely spreading incomplete information by evoking emotions.
The accusation in this thread undermines the hardwork of engineers, scientists, foresters, and communities working hard to ensure that the mining operation in the area is not just compliant locally, but set standards in the global arena.
Yes, mining is "ugly" in photos, but what OP didn't include is the several hectares of reforested mined-out area made by dedicated foresters from UP and other institutions to ensure that what was disturbed will be brought back to the best available situation for the communities.
What the OP neglected to tell is that the surrounding greens were once mined out areas successfully brought to life and reforested in the best possible standards by dedicated foresters from UP and other institutions with the help of the community. Casually focusing on the active mining areas without telling their stories undermines their years-worth of effort.
Mining is inevitable. We need resources from the Earth no matter what kind of argument you insist. In order for you to post your tweet, kilograms of minerals are needed, especially nickel, to enable you to express your thoughts. Those didn't come from planting trees, they are mined.
So what's the deal? If mining is inevitable, the only logical thing to do is to ensure that it is sustainable, adhering to strict standards, truly helping the community in the long-run, and its products benefit the people.
By the way, if we truly want to be advocates for the forest, there are much bigger causes that need urgent attention, such as unsustainable agriculture that is responsible to nearly 3/4 of global deforestation. But, it's not sexy and clout-worthy, isn't it?
P.S. This is not P.R. whatsoever. This is plain logic based on science and reality. :)
In 2016, Manny Pacquiao compared gay people to animals during an interview.
A visibly upset Dave Bautista responded:
"If anyone called my mother an animal, I'd stick my foot up his ass."
Having a lot on its plate, President Marcos Jr. just let ICI shut down instead of acting to certify as urgent our proposed ICAIC law, which would create a more independent, more fully equipped and empowered body to take over ICI.
Otherwise, it is becoming clearer by the day that the public is just being taken for a ride, na paasa lang ang administrasyon sa pangako ng seryosong imbestigasyon at paanu-anunsyo pang may mga big fish na makukulong sa biggest corruption scam in our history. Hay naku, to say that we're disappointed is an understatement.
Mahiya naman ang administrasyong ito.
Fucking carpet bombing a city with 3x the population of Toronto, no doubt mass civilian casualties, you’re stupid as hell if you ever thought this was about liberating Iranians
