@davidflatman IF it is right, and that’s a big IF, it should be introduced in stages over the next few years to ensure kids already in the system can finish their education and give the state sector time to determine how best to invest and improve.

@davidflatman We have no choice but to keep our son in the school he is in because it will take years to improve the schools near us….and they wouldn’t be able to cope if we all the extra kids anyway

@davidflatman The reality is we chose the private sector because we didn’t feel there was a viable alternative near our home - undoubtedly due to years of under funding but now we’ve made the choice we have made significant sacrifices to afford it.

@davidflatman I send my son to private school and I can see the logic in adding VAT to improve the state system. However, I think the challenges are far more nuanced than the sledgehammer approach Labour is taking.

13303 votes against 6 votes for (all by @labour councillors) and yet @Merton_Council approves the destruction of 72 acres of MOL. Those @labour councillors obviously felt the pledge on the party website to 'take back our streets' means giving away the parks is fair game.

So @Merton_Council who routinely refuse residents planning for 2 metre rear extensions have just approved a 10 storey high 8000 seat stadium in MOL they said they would never allow building on. Councillors should hang their heads in shame today….but they won’t. @SaveWimbldnPark
