My parents winter in Puerto Vallarta. Have for years.

They are currently barricaded in their condo, the military keeping rebels from entering their property.

They have food and power, and have taken in 2 women who were stranded.

The street below, usually buzzing with life, is silent, apart from the odd car that drives thru. Those people driving are not brave. They are stupid. They are surrounded by rebels, beaten, their cars lit on fire.

The Canadian consulate is unavailable. They are getting their information from social media and gov't websites. They are sheltering in place and say they are safe. They have not heard gunfire. We are praying the internet does not go dark.

Canada will not be saving my parents or any other Canadians
