@KPRC2 Let’s go back to regulation of utilities and the days of HL&P.
Deregulation has not worked for decades since it was passed by the legislature.
Due to the nature of their business, there needs to be regulation. The PUC alone does not work…..just look around.
I worked for two Houston area cities for 36 years and now retired.
Can’t remember the year but when deregulation of utilities was passed by the legislature, that is when all of our current problems started.
Prior to deregulation we had Houston Lighting & Power. We didn’t have this many customers without power after Hurricane Alicia in August, 1983.
Prior to deregulation, I was the representative from Deer Park to attend utility meetings at the City of Houston. Before deregulation, the cities, led by the City of Houston’s regulatory division, met with the utilities and it was more of a partnership compared to now.
Perhaps we need to go back to regulation of utilities.

@merissahansen17 Remember it well……. Had to go to Port Arthur and bring my Mom and her dog back to Houston. Rita hit hit Port Arthur/western La instead. Took me 3 hours to drive over there.
She would ignore it. Like most democratic government workers, she will continue to mooch off the private sector. As long as she gets free food, free travel, free clothes, free toilet paper…..all for not doing anything that contributes to the economy (like Biden who has never met a payroll).
