We broke out! Students are reviewing for their upcoming STAAR exam using a @genially escape room. We used informational articles abt pollution in the ocean that covered both reading and science concepts. This was FUN!!
Using Lily Williams book, If Sharks Disappeared to teach cause/effect to 3rd gr. Her series If Animals Disappeared, are wonderful for this. Students made notes on their cause/effect graphic organizer as they listened to the story. Oh, did I mention the awesome vocab? ๐ฒ

After reading informational text on tornadoes, students were challenged to design a tower that cld w/stand a strong gust of wind. We have several future engineers in this group. Thank you Seesaw this was FUN!
Sure Butterflies can be kinda gross but they are actually pretty amazing! So are these other 6 legged friends we explored in Pebble Go. Students loved Butterflies are Pretty Gross by Rosemary Mosco. Such a fun way to learn about butterflies ๐ฆ
Who Would Win? Inspired by Jerry Pallotaโs books, students are researching and comparing/contrasting animals to determine who would win in a battle. We had so much fun w/ this project. There was lion vs tiger, whale vs narwhal, alligator vs crocodile and more.
Growing readers at Windcrest Elementary! Every student from Pre-K through 5th recโd a bundle of books to enjoy over spring break. Thank you to Scholastic for putting these bundles together. You just made our day so much brighter ๐๐
Introduced staff to Novel Effect w/ a read aloud demo. Teachers loved the sounds in the story Ada Twist, Scientist. Just gonna say app or no app check out the amazing vocab in the first few pages of this book-frazzled, quivered, dazed! This is why read alouds are important!
Had a BLAST celebrating Read Across America w/ Spikey Mikey! We OOHED and AAHED our way through his magical performance and listened as he spoke abt the importance of reading. Thank you Spikey Mikey for a wonderful show.

Reading just makes you bright! We enjoyed reading Mae Among the Stars today. Did you know Mae Jemison graduated fr high school and went to Stanford when she was only 16yrs old? AMAZING! We used the Novel Effect App & the sound effects and music really brought the story to lifeโค๏ธ
